Now – Extended through January 9th!
Location: The Changing Gallery
We are featuring a new summer exhibit, Some Assembly Required, a hand’s on interactive experience on loan from Betty Brinn Children’s Museum, located in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Some Assembly Required features six Build-A-Bear Workshop core values that represent the most important ideals we can ever hope to teach a child: Achieve, Collaborate, Celebrate, Give, Learn, and Embrace!
The exhibit features three central components and three activity stations that apply STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts/design and math) concepts, inspiring children to be curious and to invent, tinker and solve problems while helping parents/caregivers recognize that children, too, require some assembly and that adults must set the example and guide a child’s understanding of the principles that ultimately define who we are and what we believe.
The exhibit offers hands-on challenges that highlight design, mechanics, building, self-expression and communications, and underscores the importance of shaping a child’s lifelong values while developing their imagination, resourcefulness and critical thinking skills.
Some activities include:
Construct A Bridge – Wood planks, erector set-style building pieces and fasteners, and play table surfaces present bridge building challenges for early learners, school-age children and families.
Draft A Blueprint – A two-sided digital sketch pad invites two visitors to draw and collaborate on a design.
Repair A Bike – Learn the basics of bike repair with kid-friendly tools, parts and hardware, infographics and a display of real bike mechanics
Tell A Story – Learn about story and sentence structure, and new vocabulary, with interchangeable word and narrative elements
Join A Band – Compose and play music with percussion interactives, digital keyboards, novelty sounds, drum tracks and music samples.
