Halloweekend at Portsmouth Museums
Join the Portsmouth Museums as we celebrate a weekend of fun, fall activities. The Portsmouth Art & Cultural Center, the Children’s Museum of Virginia, and the Lightship Portsmouth will be celebrating a myriad of experiences this Halloween season. Families, children and adults can all enjoy programming that includes dramatic reenactments, family-friendly scavenger hunts, horror storytelling, monster mashes, and more!
The Yellow Wallpaper
Friday, October 18, 7 pm
Portsmouth Art & Cultural Center’s Art Annex | 420 High Street
Presented by the Core Theater. The internationally acclaimed Core Theater will present an adaptation of Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s short story The Yellow Wallpaper, through music and choreography. Enjoy refreshments as you follow the descent into madness of a woman confined to her room by her doctor husband. Tickets can be purchased in advance online at portsmouthartcenter.com or in person at the Art Center or the Children’s Museum of Virginia.

Spooktacular activities include black like art, face painting, photo booth snapshots and Mad Scientist experiments. Bat World Hampton Roads will have a special presentation and families can compete a museum passport during the visit. Costumes are encouraged for this event.

Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Museum | 2 High Street
Bring your camera and enjoy several photographic backdrops for you and your family to take Halloween pictures! Kids can try on a museum costume or wear your own. Picture yourself in a World War I camp, a leafy forest or the deck of a sailing ship.
