Smorgasbord Saturday, 9:30-10:30 am

Join us for our 3rd Saturday preschool series. Designed as a drop-off session for children ages 3-5 years, we play with science, art, and history. This class is $2 for members and the $7 fee for non-members includes museum admission for the day.

Sept 21st
Craft a wand and the perfect solution, and try your hand at bubbles small and large. Then, use your experiments to create bubble art.

Oct 19th
Dinos galore! Use the right tools to build, dig, and mold your favorite prehistoric creature.

Nov 16th
Be a rocket scientist and astronomer for a day. We’ll launch simple rockets, create constellations, and explore icy space surfaces.

CMV STEM Challengers, 9:30 – 11 am

These workshops are for 6-9 year olds in which STEM topics are explored using hands-on project-based concepts. Each month is a new idea and project Students register for each month that includes 2 session, on the 3rd and 4th Saturdays of the month.

September 21st & 28th
What can you do with LEGOs and Ozobots? Are you a LEGO fanatic? Join the CMV STEM Challengers for a day of building machines and contraptions ranging from practical to silly. Explore and discover how to give commands to Ozobots via OzoCodes, which is the color code language that Ozobot understands. Participants will be able to create challenges, games and explore DIY activities.

October 19th & 26th
Spooktacular Science and Sound! It’s gooey, slippery, sticky, and really slimy. And there’s learning underneath all of the stirring and mixing. Making slime is a great way to learn about concepts like states of matter, and chemical bonding. Make cool sounds & music with Palm Pipes and experiment using everyday items like balloons, plastic cups, water and string.

November 16th & 23rd
Time to Power – Up! Ever wonder how things move with little effort? This session will focus on how energy is used and the power of air. Participants will learn about the properties of air pressure and flight using activities such as balloon racers and helicopters.
