We are excited to announce our 2019 camps!

3-5 Year Old Campers   |   6-8 Year Old Campers   |   9-11 Year Old Campers

Registration deadline is 2 weeks prior to start date.

Campers must meet age requirement by start date.

Two weeks written notice is required for refunds.

Camps are not pro-rated.  

3-5 Year Olds

 Members: $50 | Non-members $55

Did You Know Dino Camp?

Dates: July 8 – 12, 10 – 11 am

Location: Children’s Museum of Virginia

Dino Camp is an early childhood camp, designed expressly for young explorers. During these days of discovery, we will learn how to identify different dinosaurs, dig for dino bones, and make dino – themed arts & crafts and much more.

6-8 Year Olds

Members: $65 half day, $135 full day
Non Members; $70 half day, $145 full day   

Campers can sign up for a half day session or both morning and afternoon sessions to make a full day (9 am- 4 pm, campers bring their own lunch and lunch supervision provided.)

What Color Is This Color?

Location: Portsmouth Art and Cultural Center

Dates: July 15 – 19, 9 am- 12 pm

The science of color is explored through art activities with paint. Learn all about hue, saturation, value and how to make colors by creating your own artwork…and how we avoid brown!

STEM Studio Camp 1

Location: Children’s Museum of Virginia

Dates: July 15-19, 1 pm – 4 pm

Spend a week immersed in STEM – technology, and problem-solving projects. Learn the basic steps of coding and programming by exploring robotics with Ozobots and Cube Robots. Discover 3D printing with a 3Doodler 3D printing pen and get a chance to tinker with LEGOS & Little Bits circuits.

Powhatan Experience 

Location: Children’s Museum of Virginia

Dates: July 22 – 26, 9 am – 12 pm

Discover how the Powhatans lived and succeeded in their environment.  Learn about daily life through replica artifacts, tools, games, and stories of the time. The roles of the Powhatan and the English newcomers will both be explored.

The Places We’ll Go

Location: Children’s Museum of Virginia

Dates: July 22 – 26, 1-4 pm

Join Dr. Seuss and all the Whos as we journey through a different whimsical tale each day. During the week, campers will delve into stories, art projects, games, STEM challenges, science experiments, and creating their own poem collection all based on Dr. Seuss books.

Beginner Architects

Location: Children’s Museum of Virginia

Dates: August 5 – 9, 9 am – 12 pm

Explore, imagine, design, build and play!  Campers are introduced to the creative process of designing, building, and decorating structures.  Time will also be spent exploring examples of historical architecture in the surrounding neighborhood.

Dates: August 5 – 9, 1 pm – 4 pm

Spend a week immersed in STEM – engineering and problem-solving challenges. Explore building games, space races, and spend time in the Beazley Planetarium.

Secrets of Asian Design

Location: Children’s Museum

Dates: June 24 – 28, 9 am – 12 pm

Learn the woodworking secrets only the Chinese and Japanese knew centuries before Europe and America. Campers will decorate their own wooden box with real gesso, black lacquer, and gold leaf design of their choosing.

Art Explorers

Location: Children’s Museum

Dates: June 24 – 28, 1 pm – 4 pm

Explore the fascinating world of ancient Egypt and its decorative art through hands-on artistic projects. During the week campers will create sculptures and pyramids, design with hieroglyphics, and explore Egyptian painting, pottery, and papyrus.
