SPECIAL PROGRAMMING FOR TURTLE TRAVELS EXHIBIT

As you “travel” through the exciting displays of our new exhibition TURTLE TRAVELS, located in our Changing Gallery, we hope you will enjoy these workshops and activities. The programs are included with your Museum admission and free for members.   

TurtleTiny Tot Turtle – member only workshop
Saturday, June 2nd, 2018
9:30 – 10 am

Trained educators from the Virginia Aquarium will present this turtle program geared towards toddlers, ages 2 – 3. Meet a live turtle and learn different ways in which turtles explore their natural habitat through stories, songs, games, and artifacts that highlight its adaptations. Registration is required for this class and tickets will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Only member children will require a ticket and ask for one adult to attend as well. Game BoardT is for Turtle –member only workshop

11 – 11:30 am

Trained educators from the Virginia Aquarium will present this turtle program geared towards preschoolers, ages 3 – 5. Join us in a “turtley” awesome time as your students meet a live turtle, play the turtle alphabet game, and investigate our turtle artifacts. You’ll also discover the differences in various types of turtles in Susan Ring’s, “Where Should Turtle Be?” Registration is required for this class and tickets will be available on a first come, first serve basis. The Tortoise and the Hare

Showtime at 1 & 2:30 pm in the Imagination Classroom

Experience an Interactive Story that’s fun for the entire family. Rainbow Puppets create shows that entertain, educate and enlighten… through puppets, music, and dance. The well – known story of “The Tortoise and the Hare” features a truly fabulous looking tortoise puppet.  The show will also include some other songs that would bring out the sea turtle and even the tiny box turtle puppets. Zoo to You Program – It Takes All Kinds

  Zoo to You school outreach programs from the Virginia Zoo provides a unique educational opportunity right in your classroom for students at any grade level! Each program includes an up-close animal encounter and interactive science lessons aligned to Virginia’s Standards of Learning and Next Generation Science Standards. JB Rattles Reptile Demonstration & Display Table
Friday, July 27th & Friday, August 31st, 2018
1 – 4 pm in the Open Space on the 2nd Floor of the Museum

  JB’s Rattles motto is “The Reptile Zoo That Comes To You!” This company came back in 2004 and have enjoyed performing programs in both North Carolina and Virginia for the past 14 years. They have worked with these creatures for over 45 years, and it will be a great learning experience. JB’s Rattles have over 70 different reptiles and insects in their collection so this program has been personalized to fit at the Children’s Museum of Virginia.
