Group Visit Information

Self-Guided Exploration:

  • A whole world of imagination will open before your students’ eyes when they visit the Children’s Museum of Virginia.
  • Allow 90 minutes- 2 hours for a Self-Guided Exploration Visit to allow your students to explore at their own pace.
  • The cost of the tour is $7.00 per student. One adult is admitted free with every eight children. Teachers and bus drivers are also admitted free.

Pre-School Programs Ages 3-5:

  • Our dynamic programs are designed to allow students to learn through investigation and play. Children are active participants while they explore the various items presented in the program.
  • This program is combined with a self-guided exploration.
  • Each program is approximately 30 minutes with a maximum audience of 20 students. For groups larger than 20, students will be divided into smaller groups in order to provide the best experience.
  • Allow up to 2 hours for the program and self-guided exploration tour.
  • The cost for the program and tour is $8.00 per student. One adult is admitted free with every eight children. Teachers and bus drivers are also admitted free.

Early Elementary Programs – Grades K-2:

  • These programs were developed with the early elementary grades in mind and tie to a specific strand of the Science SOLs.
  • The programs are approximately 45 minutes in length and are designed for an average class size. For larger groups, students will be divided into smaller groups to allow for maximum participation of each person.
  • Allow 2-2 ½ hours for program and self-guided exploration tour.
  • The cost for the program and tour is $8.00 per student. One adult is admitted free with every eight children. Teachers and bus drivers are admitted free.

NEW PROGRAMS

The Wonders of the Cosmos Come Alive in the Beazley Planetarium.

Be transported to worlds unseen in our digital full dome projection theater. Explore the wonders of the Earth and find inspiration in our starry skies. Students will be fully immersed with virtual trips on Earth to the moon, the planets and the universe to gain an amazing view of the cosmos.

  • Programs are 55 minutes and can be reserved as a stand-alone program or combined with a Self- Exploration Visit.
  • Allow 2 ½-3 hours for a program and Self-Exploration Visit.
  • Maximum number of participants for a program is 63. Groups can be spilt into smaller groups when combined with a Self-Exploration Visit.
  • Recommended grade levels are listed for each show but may be adapted to meet the particular needs of your visit.
  • The cost for the program is $3.00 per student and for the program and tour the fee is $8.00 per student. One adult is admitted free with every eight students. Teachers and bus drivers are admitted free.
