Laugh and Play with Arthur!

Ages: 3-5
Dates: July 24-28, 10-11 am
Location: Children’s Museum of VA
Cost: Members $50 / Non-members $55

It’s a wonderful day to learn with Arthur! Using art, science, and our imaginations we will go with Arthur and his friends as they explore nature, music, and friendship in their hometown of Elwood City. We will use Arthur’s stories to guide our adventure, and even take a visit to the Arthur’s World exhibit.

Did You Know? Dinosaurs Camp

Ages: 3 – 5
Dates: July 5-7, 10-11 am
Location: Children’s Museum of VA
Cost: Members $65 half day, $135 full day / Non Members; $70 half day, $145 full day
Campers can sign up for a half day session or both morning and afternoon sessions to make a full day (9am- 4 pm, campers bring their own lunch and lunch supervision provided.)

During the three days of discovery, we will identify different dinosaurs, dig for dino bones, make dino – themed arts & crafts and much more.

Arthur and His Friends

Ages: 6-8
Dates: July 10-14, 9 am-noon
Location: Children’s Museum of VA

Join us as we examine the world with Arthur! Create, read, and explore as we follow Arthur, Buster, D.W. and all their friends through their lives in Elwood City with games, crafts, and even a visit to the Arthur’s World exhibit.

Our Animal Friends

Ages: 6-8
Dates: July 10-14, 1-4 pm
Location: Portsmouth Art and Cultural Center

Whether it’s a family pet, a favorite zoo creature or the backyard squirrel, campers will create artwork inspired by our furry (and not so furry) friends in this fun art camp. Draw, paint and sculpt with the Portsmouth Museums!

Up in the Sky and Beyond

Ages: 6-8
Dates: July 17-21, 9 am – noon
Location: Children’s Museum of VA

Discover the expansiveness of our universe that can be found by studying the night sky and learning about the celestial objects that exist. We will visit our planetarium, explore constellations, and learn about the compositions of other planets as we delve into the mysteries of our galaxy and beyond.

Take a trip through Australia – dive into the artwork of Aboriginal artists and cultures using various techniques. We’ll focus of four geographical areas, taking time to learn about the art that comes from each one!

Ages: 9-12

Explore rhyming patterns and poetic structure, create lyrics and cover art and try your hand at recording in a mobile studio.

Help Your Selfie!

Ages: 9-12
Dates: July 24-28, 9 am-noon

Artists have been taking “selfies” for a long time. Even before the invention of cameras and smart phones, artists found ways to create their self image. Campers will create their own selfies using a variety of techniques and mediums – no selfie stick required!

Ages: 9-12
Dates: July 24-28, 1-4 pm

Power up your engineering skills with LEGO! Apply real – world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture through engineer – designed projects such as arch bridges, skyscrapers, and motorized cars. Design and build as never before, and explore your craziest ideas in a supportive environment using the LEGO building system.
